How many people got the movie bug when Dixons started selling the innovative Agfa family System ?
This unusual cine camera came with a dedicated projector/viewer and not only took movies but had a second shutter release that took a single frame. When the film came back from the lab, that single frame could be ‘spotted’ by the dedicated viewer, which would pause the projection on it’s automatic setting for 4 seconds, turning the viewer into a combined movie and slide projector !
Up until now films shot on this system were very difficult to transfer as ordinary projectors had no way of ‘spotting’ the still frame and the family monitor screen was too grainy to give a satisfactory image.
But now we can offer a service where these stills can be shown for a standard four second duration (or for longer if requested).
This service costs an additional £2 per 50 foot film.
As a footnote, Elmo also made a camera to utilise the Agfa 'family' technology in 1982. This was called the 'Album' system by Elmo. Unusually it had a very wide angle lens (camera was called Album 3600 C-56). It is probably worth tracking down as a camera in its own right.
